Jim LaClaire with one of our larger patients. Fridays now include the entertaining services of Mr. Jim LaClaire, Farrier Extraordinaire. Dr. Hank and Jim work together on some of the practice's more complicated cases. Using both veterinary medicine and farrier science to keep our companions sound, our clients have found this to be a very rewarding combination. Jim started shoeing in 1979. He became a Certified Farrier in 1985, and advanced to a Certified Journeyman Farrier five years later. Mr. LaClaire furthered his education through Dr. Doug Butler's Master Farrier program, from which he graduated in 1995. He has shod horses in Puerto Rico, Spain, Italy, and Germany, in addition to the Northeastern and Southeastern United States. Mr. LaClaire is assisted by Tracey Cooley. They are available every Friday at our hospital for routine farrier services also. Your horse does not have to be lame to be seen by them.
